Girls’ tennis face more losses, still hopeful

by Yash Kandula

The 2017 Tennis season has been the best for the lady warrior’s tennis team. So far this week, the ladies have had a loss of 9-0 against Atlee on Monday, May 1. Due to the lack of senior support and non-returning players, this season has been very challenging.

As of this year, Coach Stephanie Paul recruited many freshmen. With a lot of new players, it took some getting used to for the girls to play with one another. “We are a team…we treat each other like family. We are always there for one another and always making each other smile” said Junior Brianna Zimmerman.

The girls have two upcoming games this week. They play on Wednesday, May 3 against Armstrong High School and Thursday, May 4 against Varina High School.

Sophomore Quinn Murphy is satisfied so far with this season despite the heartbreaking losses.  “Despite a losing season, we were always supportive of each other, and we have grown both individually and as a team” Murphy commented.

The girls practice rigorously every day in hopes of bringing home some more wins and are looking forward to the rest of the season.
