Juniors lead the way for Boys Volleyball

The Warriors Boys Volleyball team has looked great at times, with wins against Varina (twice), Highland Springs, Armstrong, and Tucker. Each of these teams is in the district, which will serve them well when it comes time to receive a seed for the playoffs.

Although there are very few seniors on the team, the juniors are making up for their absence.  Juniors Matthew Headley, Arjun Tomer, and Aditya Singh have provided the Warriors with some excellent athleticism on both offense and defense.

“Our team pulls through to get a win with our great teamwork and our competitive attitudes,” says sophomore Abhi Singh about the Warriors’ resilience and strength.

Coach Rigler is making a great effort to not only win their matches, but turn these guys into skilled volleyball players. They are learning to fight through adversity, which is a key factor in any team with a winning mindset. The Warriors boys’ volleyball team looks to continue their winning ways deep into the playoffs.

“In the previous match-up with Highland Springs on September 20th, we swept them 3-0.  As the season has progressed, we have worked on communication on and off the court and developing plays.  We are a team with a new attitude and more discipline than they faced in September” Coach Rigler said.

The boys’ next game is Tuesday, October 11 at Henrico against the Highland Springs Springers at 6:00.

“Our guys have come a long way from freshmen year and we have put in countless hours of work to reach where we are now. Going from here, I only see us improving and I can’t wait to see how far we go next season” said junior Aditya Singh.
